Workshop on Quality Teacher Education: Capacity Building of
Teacher Educators

A two - day workshop on Quality Teacher Education : Capacity Building of teacher Educators was oraganized at Dayanand Model School , Model Town Jalandhar for the faculty of Class X English. The development of community , society , nation and universe is dependent on educational system .The holistic development of children of any nation is in the hand of teachers.School Education has symbiotic relationship with teacher education as teachers are frontline providers of quality education.The Suffiecient supply of well-qualified and well-trained teachers is the most important . With such a staunch notion, Two – Day Capacity Building Programme for English Teachers (class – X) was organized at our school campus. It was attended by 37 participants of schools across the state of Punjab, Jammu and Haryana.

The Honourable Resource Persons for the workshop were Ms. Upasana Rishiraj (Former Principal- Academics) Kamla Nehru Public School, Phagwara and Ms. Gauri Chhabra (Former Principal) Drishti Innovation Public School Narangwal Punjab. They were extended a warm floral welcome at the outset of the workshop.

The aim of the workshop was to give an insight into the curriculum aspects of class IX and X including all the four skills of English Language.The programme was nicely scheduled and spread over two days with exclusive focus on Reading and Literature in the first half of Day 1 after which attention was shifted to the Teaching of vocabulary, grammar and speaking of language learning in the 2nd half of day 1.

The Resource Persons shared the material as well as familiarized the participants through PPT, Handouts and other learning enriched activities that not only gave participants the clarity of concepts but also helped them to clarify their doubts occur in regular classroom, teaching and learning. Not only this, a surprise brain storming session was also conducted for the teachers in which story writing activity was assigned based on different emotions.

The session of day 2 commenced with a detailed discussion on Bloom’s Taxonomy and Lesson Planning. Lesson plans prepared by the participants group – wise stole the show wherein the framed Learning Outcomes with multidisciplinary approach. In the 2nd half of day 2, question paper analysis as well as Assessment module was taken. The Resource Persons encouraged the participants to design the question papers based on Bloom Taxonomy as it will enhance the Head, Heart and Hand capacities of the child.

The workshop culminated with a vote of Thanks. A memento to the distinguished Resource Persons as a Token of Appreciation for all the hard work they had put in to make the workshop a success and an enriching experience. Certificated were awarded to all the participants. The session thus concluded on an optimistic note of making sincere efforts to implement all the strategies with great zeal and enthusiasm..
